Workshop: Reviving the European project
Fondation EURACTIV organised on January 31st 2018 a workshop showcasing the results of the CODES project co-funded by “Europe for Citizens”. Local public debates gathering 400 participants were organised to identify sources of Euroscepticism and to develop a communication strategy based on local approaches in the run-up to the 2019 European Parliament’s elections, in which Eurosceptic parties could perform strongly.

This event iv Brussels gathered Benedek Jávor, MEP, Marjory van den Broeke, EP Head of Press Unit, and Luc Van den Brande, Special Adviser to J-C Juncker on “outreach towards citizens”.
It was followed by a brainstorming session discussing solutions to engage and local media, democratic conventions, and how to combat “fake news”.
The event involved 61 citizens, including 3 participants from Italy, 8 participants from Slovakia, 6 participants from France, 3 participants from Greece, 2 participants from Romania, 2 participants from Portugal, 4 participants from United Kingdom, 6 participants from Spain, 3 participants from Netherlands, 7 participants from Germany, 3 participants from Hungary, 1 participant from Latvia, 5 participants from Belgium, 2 participants from Poland, 1 participant from Bulgaria, 2 participants from Austria 2, and 2 participants from Czechia.
